Another troll concept update

So I made a little more progress with the troll. I filled out a little more of the volume, added a little more detail and a little bit more texture to it. I'm kind of upset I didn't start this painting at a larger size to get a little more control. I guess I'm just so used to game res textures that this seemed large enough... Oh well, nothing I can do about that now. The next painting will for sure be more.

As with anything I post on here, let me know what you think. If you have any critiques and/or comments just let me know what needs improvement.

Close call, but not quite...

Well, so we had a close call on the 22nd with the baby. My wife had normal doctors appointment and as soon as we got in the office she began having contractions. After seeing the doctor, Megan was in much pain from these and the doctor checked her out and said she was in fact in labor. He told us to go to the hospital right away. So we did. We were there for a few hours, but her contractions never became strong enough to make any real progress. So the finally sent us home.

It was pretty frustrating because my mom and grandma drove down here. (About an hour and a half drive) Waited in the hospital for a few hours and had to drive back home. Knowing that they will have to drive back up in the next couple of days. Also Megan was so sad about us not going home with a baby that she actually started to cry. So that kinda mad me feel bad. But it will happen soon enough and by then we will be wishing it never did happen (Just kidding). Anyway... I guess I just needed to vent a little of that built up frustration. I will update as things progress.

Troll Painting Update

Finally got back to working on this troll again. I think he still needs a lot of definition. He still doesn't seem to have enough volume so I still have a lot of work to go on this guy.
I've been really busy working on a new model that I am really having some fun with. I will probably be posting some renders of her as I make a little bit more progress.

On an unrelated note. Our baby is due tomorrow, but it's not looking like he will be here by then. We have an appointment tomorrow to see the progress and already have an appointment set up for the 25th to induce labor if he is not her by then.

Troll

Here is a concept of a enemy creature (troll) for an indepentant game project my brother and I are working on, aka "BlueOrb Studios". Even though the drawing is really quick and rough I was pretty pleased with the results.

About Me

Born (Feb. 28th 1980) and raised in Utah. I graduated from Fremont High School in 1998. I got married to my beautiful wife Megan on May 3rd, 2003. In November of 2004 we moved to Orlando Florida for me to attend Full Sail Real World Education to pursue an Associate of Science in Computer Animation degree.

After returning to Utah I fairly quickly got a job as a 3D video game artist at a company in Orem Utah called, Wahoo Studios, Inc. As of this post date I have released two games: Outpost Kaloki X and Band of Bugs (both on the Xbox 360 Live Arcade). I also have 3 other yet to be released titles under my belt two of which will hopefully be coming out this year sometime.

In February of this year we found out that my wife was pregnant (yes it was planned... mostly...) with our first child. He is a boy due this October. The name we have chosen is Bridger Paul Wiggins. We are both very excited, the baby's room is already painted and I think we have more then enough clothes bought, and it's still about three months before he is scheduled to arrive.

Favorites:

Color: Gray (boring I know)
Drink: Dr. Pepper
Movies: This is actually a hard one for me. I like many, many movies. It's kind of what my wife and I like doing more then just about anything. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my all-time favorites with Chronicles of Riddick being one of my guilty pleasures.
Video games: See above, but mostly I am hooked on Guitar Hero II (just finally beat Free Bird on expert tonight), God of War, Gears of War and Final Fantasy.
Books: The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings of course, Harry Potter and I get a lot of crap about this but I do enjoy the Wheel of Time series even though they can be really long and boring sometimes.

Sorry for such a long post about myself and most the people that are going to actually going to read this right now already know this, but whatever. :)

Thanks

Decided it was about time for me to start my own blog finally.

I'm not much of a blogger, but I decided to start this for several reasons.
  1. Honestly... to reserve this name before someone else took it.
  2. In hopes that this would give me a purpose to work on my art my, whether it be 2D or 3D. a little motivation if you will...
  3. Since I don't keep a journal anymore I thought maybe this would be a good way to do sort of the same thing. I have found it more important to keep a record of my life now that I have a kid on the way. Obviously this will be a lot less personal and a lot less deep. (yeah, like I'm that deep anyway)

And so it begins...
